RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interns can be assigned to the following departments:

Talent & Music - maintain producers' calendars for guest bookings, organize and sort submissions; manage talent and publicist databases; coordination of musical guests; possible participation in booking meetings.

Research - organize, file, distribute publications and other resources. Perform research on upcoming guests to be used by segment producers for interview reference.

Production - manage copying and distribution of scripts, rundowns, schedules, and revisions ensuring office, stage, and all production departments have up-to-date information; research music publishing information; update show database, phone coverage; pick up/drop off errands as necessary (all mileage will be reimbursed) general production office support.

Post Production - Assist editors/producers: track and traffic tapes between editing, control room, CBS edit/tape facility; log daily entries on edit systems; manage tape library; make dubs; general post production support, learn editing basics of Avid.

Control Room - Assist control room operations during daily rehearsals and tapings; field phone calls; copy and distribute script revisions; perform daily duties on behalf of director, associate director and other control room personnel.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:
Hours. Work schedule is 24 hours per week minimum commitment, up to 40 hours per week. Interns are assigned a fixed regular schedule based on their available hours.

INTERNSHIP WITH SIMMONS MEDIA GROUP- MISSOULA, MT
In order to apply for this internship a person must contact the general manager Rod Harsell. He can be reached at: (406)-329-1888, or you can visit the Simmons Media Group suite in the Langley Building at 2425 W. Central Ave., Suite 203 Missoula, MT. There is no deadline for this internship. They take one intern on every 13 weeks. The onlyqualification of a prospective intern is that they have a vested interest in the world of broadcasting.

INTERNSHIP WITH BARRETT PRODUCTIONS- MISSOULA, MT
Barrett Productions requirements for an internship are that a prospective intern must be a student at the university. You must submit a resume and cover letter to them, and also go through an interview process. The contact, Bryan Allen, has an e-mail that he can send out with a detailed explanation of what the internship will consist of. He gave me a brief explanation in which he said that half of the internship is consisted of loading and logging footage and the other half would be assisting in the production of a program. INTERNSHIP WITH KXLF NEWS- BUTTE, MT
The requirements for an internship with KXLF are that a prospect must be enrolled in a journalism program for at least 2 years, and have some experience working in a brodcast atmosphere. The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is an independent, nonprofit organization serving hundreds of colleges and universities in the United States and other countries by providing selected students challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C. for academic credit. The largest program of its kind, The Washington Center has 70 full-time staff and over 40,000 alumni, many of who are in leadership positions in the public, private and nonprofit sectors in the United States and around the world.

QUALIFICATIONS

If you are applying to any program, except the Postgraduate Professional Development Program (PPDP), you must:

· Be enrolled in an accredited college or university as a second semester sophomore or above during the term of your internship.

· Maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. If your GPA is below 2.75 your application may be considered with a third recommendation letter. Applicants with GPA’s lower than 2.75 are encouraged to apply early.

Designed for undergraduate students interested in U.S. politics, American government and journalism, Capital Semester serves as a great way to kick-off your career in politics, journalism, lobbying, government, or the nonprofit sector.

Diversity

Capital Semester allows students to spend 15 weeks earning 12 transferable course credits at Georgetown University while gaining valuable work experience at a top D.C. organization.

As part of the experience, Capital Semester students attend exclusive briefings at various sites around Washington, such as the White House Complex, the U.S. Capitol, State Department and Federal Reserve. Students meet leaders and government officials, hear from policy-makers at regular guest lectures, and interact with D.C. professionals through networking activities.

Students may apply to one of two tracks – Public Policy or Political Journalism. Internship placements and academic study will correspond with the chosen track.

With a single application, students are enrolled at Georgetown, housed in a furnished residential building, and are placed in a competitive internship for a fall or spring semester.

CBS NEWS INTERNSHIP
This is an unpaid internship. Interns are responsible for housing and expenses.
LOCATIONS: New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, London, Toyko, and Beijing
SESSIONS:
Spring-Jan. to May (Student arranges exact start and end date)

Fall and spring applicants are accepted on rolling basis. The summer program selects and assigns students on a first-come, first-serve basis; summer applications will not be accepted after Feb. 28th of each year.

DUTIES: Internship duties can include logging tapes, coordinating scripts, research, preliminary interviews, assisting during shoots, selecting footage, answering viewer mail and clerical duties.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be attending an accredited college and have achieved junior or senior status.
A variety of majors qualify including Journalism, Broadcasting, Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, English, Political Science and more.
Mush have good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities and knowledge of current events.
A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended. Students must be able to meet the minimum time commitment.
Students are required to provide official documentation on school letterhead confirming that they will receive credit for the internship. This documentation must be on file prior to start date.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC BUREAUS
Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles offices: These bureaus cover new stories in the southeast and west coast region of the United States. Intern duties include assisting producers and correspondents for Evening News, Early Show, Weekend News, Sunday Morning and other CBS News programs. Interns will do research, help set up stories, log tape, attend press conference and do other various tasks. The ideal candidate must be a good researcher, a self-starter, ambitious and have good writing and verbal communication skills.

London office:This is the CBS Broadcast Center in Europe, which is the hub of all international coverage for CBS NEWS broadcasts. Inter duties include accompanying camera crews into the field for interviews, breaking news and research. Interns are expected to monitor local news programming in London and to assist producers and correspondents in compiling research for stories for the CBS Evening News, Weekend News, The Early Show and Sunday Morning programs. A keen sense of international news is essential, as is a good sense of human. Interns must have the ability to work under pressure during breaking news stories.

Beijing/Tokyo offices: These bureaus cover news stories in that region. Intern duties include research, logging tapes, translating/transcribing video, light clerical work, pitching story ideas and working with producers, correspondents and crews. Tokyo students must be fluent in Japanese; some Mandarin language skills are helpful for Beijing. Strong candidates who do no speak Chinese will be considered. All students must have good written and verbal communication skills and basic knowledge of computer programs like Word and Excel.

Objective: To lessen the workload of the communications staff while providing a practical learning experience to a student interest in humanitarian aid and advocacy and public relations.

Overview: The Communications Departs of Doctors without Borders works to expand awareness of the humanitarian crises and endemic health problems in developing countries that our medical teams address in the field. Public awareness is built through three primary means: active and reactive press work; publication produced in-house, including our quarterly newsletter and website; and public education activities such as interactive exhibits, speaking events, screening, and the creation and distribution of teaching tool and curriculums.

The Press Intern will work closely with the Press Officer and Communications Assistant, offering day-to-day research support and meeting project-based needs as they arise. As a valued member of the Communication department, the Press intern will be centrally involved in the department's attempts to bring Doctor's without Borders advocacy messages into the media. He or she will have ample opportunities to learn about public relations through direct experience and humanitarian medical aid through osmosis. The position is ideal for a student interested in both humanitarian aid and public relations or journalism.

Duties: The Press Intern will be expected to perform the following tasks:

Skills: Ability to work independently on a number of separate, simultaneous task. Familiarity with US television and print media. Proficiency in writing and internet research. Working knowledge of Word and Excel. French or Spanish a plus.

This broadcast covers news repors, features and interviews by CBS News correspondents covering events throughout the world. Inter must have strong research and computer skills and knowledge of Lexis-Nexis. Must have the ability to work the phone with contacts and sources, affiliate calls and light clerical work.



Sessions: Spring January to May the student arranges exact start and end date



Summer: June to August full time over the course of ten weeks



Fall: September to December the student arranges exact start and end date



Duties: Logging tapes, coordinating script, research, preliminary interviews, assisting during shoots, selecting footage, answering viewer mail, and clerical duties.



Requirements: Students who are currently attending an accredited college and have achieved junior or senior status are eligible. A variety of majors qualify including Journalism, Broadcast, Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, English, Political Science and more. Participants must have good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities and knowledge of current events. A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended. Students must be able to meet the minimum time commitment.



Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Students are required to provide official documentation on school letterhead confirming they will receive credit for the internship. This documentation must be on file prior to start date.



Employment: Students are not guaranteed a job after participating in the program.



Application status: Due to the high volume of applicants, the office can not respond to application-status inquiries. The office reviews all submitted applications and contacts qualified candidates for a phone interview.



Deadlines: Fall and Spring applicants are accepted on a rolling basis. The Summer program selects and assigns students on a first-come, first served basis; summer applications will not be accepted after Feb. 28 of each year.
