Ava Shearer Internship Research
Qualifications- Interns are required to have experience with ProTools or similar digital editing software. Otherwise, the internship aims to educate the intern in all the other aspects of producing a show.
How to Apply- The application is completely paperless so resume, cover letter, and application questions must be sent to internship@thisamericanlife.org. Attach the entire application as a Word document, paste the application in the body of the email, and indicate which session you are applying for (Spring or Fall) in the subject line.
Deadline- Applications must be sent by midnight the day of the deadline for the session you are applying for.

Qualifications- A background in humor writing and/or radio are a plus, but lack of background is not a problem.

Chicago Public Radio
Qualifications- The Program is open to college students, recent grads, members of the community, etc. The applicant must be available a minimum of 15 hours per week, unless interning for the Eight Forty-Eight and Newsdesk programs, which require a 35 hour a week commitment.
How to apply- an application package should contain the following:
1. Resume, and Letters of Reference
In addition to your resume, you should also include three letters of reference. Letters of reference should come from people who you have worked with in some capacity. Teachers, academic advisors, former supervisors, and members of organizations you’ve volunteered for make great references.
2. A Fully Completed, Signed, and Dated Application
Including completed essay questions.
3. Supporting Materials
Some internship positions require additional application items, such as design, writing or audio samples. Audio samples should be on CD (either as an audio CD, or MP3 files burned to a CD-ROM). Design samples should be PDFs on a CD-ROM.

Description:
As an Intern, you will receive a hands-on education by being a member of the KBCI-TV Newsroom team, responsible for a variety of tasks in the News department. This position requires schedule flexibility, as well as a person who can adapt to changes quickly. Interns will be assigned to a variety of different assignments, based on that day’s needs.
News
As a News Intern you will be exposed to a variety of tasks in the Newsroom. You will get full exposure to the day-to-day activities of a busy News department. Internship duties can include logging tapes, coordinating scripts, researching, assisting during shoots, selecting footage, answering viewer mail, and clerical duties.
Sports
As a Sports Intern you will be assisting the Sports department in gathering and researching of sports related information/stats, logging tape, coordinating scripts, and assisting with remote sporting event shoots. This internship will provide a general overview of the daily activities of a Sports News department.
Web
As a Web Intern you will exposed to day-to-day News requirements with regards to the KBCI-TV website. You will assist in researching and writing stories for publication on the KBCI-TV website, gain knowledge of AP style, learn basics of website content management and publication, learn how to capture and digitize images and videos for web publication, assist with gathering other content and materials for publication on the KBCI-TV website.
Qualifications
Students who are currently attending an accredited college and have achieved junior or senior status are eligible. A variety of majors qualify including Journalism, Broadcasting, Communication, Public Relations, and more. Participants must have an interest in a News career, good computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and knowledge of current events. A 3.0 GPA or above is recommended.
Other Information
This is an unpaid internship. Students are required to provide official documentation on school letterhead confirming that they will receive credit for the internship. This documentation must be on file prior to start date.
